Map posters

HealthAtlas

Make a shareable map from public data β€” fertility and life expectancy around the world, and birth rates and Medicare use and spending across US states β€” with two years side by side, a value printed on each place, and the source on the image. Pick a measure, download a PNG for social posts or slides, or an SVG to edit. Free, no sign-up.

"Compared with the average" divides each place by the published US or world figure for the same year, so 1.20 means 20% above it. It removes changes every place shared, such as inflation, and keeps the geography.

Read it carefully

Every number here is an average for a whole state or country, and it hides large differences inside it. A difference between two places is a pattern to look into, not a verdict on either one. Medicare figures cover fee-for-service beneficiaries only, are not adjusted for age, sex or race, and dollar figures shown "as published" are not adjusted for inflation.

Using the images

Posters are free to share. Please keep the source line at the bottom β€” it is part of the image on purpose β€” the World Bank's licence (CC BY 4.0) requires it for world maps. Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands have values in the table but are not drawn on the US map.
